EVERGREEN, Colo. (KKTV/Gray News) – Emergency personnel responded to a Colorado high school for reports of an “active assailant” in the area on Wednesday afternoon.
Jefferson County officials said the activity was first reported at Evergreen High School on Buffalo Park Road in Evergreen
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, at least three people were injured during the shooting at the high school.
The sheriff’s office later said that one of those three injured was the suspect.I am closely monitoring the situation at Evergreen High School, and am getting live updates. State Troopers are supporting local law enforcement in responding to this situation. Students should be able to attend school safely and without fear across our state and nation. We are all praying for the victims and the entire community,” Colorado Gov. Jared Polis said in a statement.
Officials asked parents not to head directly to the school because of the ongoing investigation.
A reunification center was set up at Wilmot Elementary School on South Hatch Drive.
